On the second day of the International Women’s Day celebrations, a grand event was held in Nagwa Basti, bringing together women, young girls and members of the local community. The gathering was graced by esteemed guests including Parshad Ravindra Singh, Professor Pooja from VKM College, Principal Sunita Pandey from Samne Ghat Primary School, Asha Singh from Duniya Foundation, Father Anand and Sr. Uttama, among others.
The event commenced with a heartfelt welcome as the dignitaries were honoured with floral garlands. Five remarkable women from the region were then recognised for their outstanding contributions to society. Father Maju Mathew, Director of ASMITA, highlighted the purpose of the event, emphasising the importance of women’s empowerment and self-expression.
A mesmerising cultural programme unfolded, beginning with a soulful welcome song followed by enchanting dance performances by young girls. The audience was captivated by traditional Bhojpuri songs and folk performances showcasing the region’s vibrant cultural heritage, while distinguished guests reinforced the significance of gender equality and women’s rights.
The event was hosted by Priyamvada, while Santosh extended a heartfelt vote of thanks. As the celebration concluded, guests enjoyed light refreshments before departing with pride and inspiration — the event truly embodied the spirit of strength, resilience and unity among women.
