ASMITA has taken a significant step in addressing gender inequality through its recent inter-school speech competition held at the ASMITA campus. The event aimed to raise awareness about gender equality, especially within the slum communities of Varanasi.
This year, the competition attracted 59 participants from 25 schools, with an impressive 51 girls showcasing their talents. The young speakers passionately articulated the urgent need for more opportunities and recognition for women, emphasizing their right to participate actively in societal affairs.
This marked the second time ASMITA has organized such a competition, reinforcing its commitment to promoting gender equality. The panel of judges included Professor Anshu Shukla, Fr. Anand, and Miss Khushi Tripathi, who evaluated the participants based on their delivery and content.
In the competitive finale, Palak Soni emerged as the first-place winner, followed closely by Anokhi Chaurasya in second place and Samrithi securing third. As an added incentive, the first prize winner received a bicycle and a cash award of ₹2,000, while the second and third prize winners were awarded bicycles and cash prizes of ₹500 and ₹1,000, respectively. Additionally, four participants received consolation prizes for their commendable efforts.
ASMITA remains committed to fostering dialogue on gender issues and providing a platform for young voices, reinforcing the importance of education and awareness in combating gender-based violations in society.
