ASMITA, an organization dedicated to empowering women, children, and youth in slum areas, celebrated a vibrant cultural evening, “Cultural Kaleidoscope,” showcasing the talents of children from its non-formal education centers, youth clubs, and tailoring programs. This three-hour event marked a significant milestone, as it was the first time many of these children had the opportunity to present their skills to the community.
With over 420 attendees, including children and youth from 25 slums, the evening featured 24 diverse performances, highlighting the creativity and resilience of participants living in the vicious cycle of illiteracy and social exclusion. ASMITA aims to provide these young talents with a platform to interact with mainstream society, promoting a sense of belonging and empowerment.
The program was expertly coordinated by volunteers from VKM College, who dedicated time to practice and prepare the children for their performances. The guest of honor, Fr. Abhiskhiktanad, the provincial of the Varanasi province of the IMS, applauded the initiative, emphasizing its importance in fostering growth and confidence among the children.
ASMITA is committed to organizing regular events like this, recognizing the transformative impact they have had in just four months. With continued support and engagement, more cultural programs are planned for the future, further nurturing the talents and aspirations of these young individuals.
