ASMITA Launches *Idli Stalls* Initiative to Empower Women Entrepreneurs

Varanasi, August 16, 2023 — ASMITA has launched a new program, *ASMITA Idli Stalls*, aimed at promoting income-generating activities for women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, particularly in slum areas. The initiative focuses on empowering beneficiaries by providing them with essential skills in idli preparation and supplying them with a complete vending cart, allowing them to operate their own stalls with zero initial investment.

The program is designed to ensure that all profits generated from the sales belong entirely to the women, making it a self-sustaining initiative. ASMITA has commenced this venture with five stalls, with plans to expand to 20 stalls in the near future.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Shri Saurav Srivastava, MLA Cantt, Varanasi, and Fr. Alok Nag, highlighting the community’s support for this empowering initiative. ASMITA is committed to fostering entrepreneurship among women, providing them with the tools and opportunities needed to achieve financial independence.
